George E. Sharick, 94, of Moweaqua (formerly of Macon) passed away Monday October 10, 2011 at the Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center in Moweaqua.
A graveside service to celebrate George’s life will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday October 13, 2011 at Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery in Harristown. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood St. Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center or Donor’s Choice.
George was born on July 23, 1917 near Harristown, the son of Thomas Edward and Julia Spates Sharick. George married Betty Lois Williams on December 6, 1938 and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2003. George was a farmer.
George is survived by his daughters: Sandra Voudrie and husband Robert of Decatur and Linda Hadley and husband William of Decatur; grandchildren Ricky Voudrie, Cathy Carter, Stephanie Maurer and Kent Hadley; fourteen great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren also survive.
George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, one brother and one sister.

So sorry to hear about George. He was my neighbor in Macon for many years; lived right across the street from us. I loved talking with him and Betty. I could sit and talk with them for hours. They were both such great people. I am very sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones. I am greatful that I got the chance to know them.

I am sending my condolences to George's family. I met George at the nursing home where my mother is a resident. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and I loved talking with him. He will be missed. Mary Latshaw
